Clear Ice Cubes

I took a great interest in this particular Pinterest DIY. It was a short tutorial regarding how to make your ice cubes clear as opposed to cloudy. Personally, I think that is an awesome trick! It seemed simple enough to start with...so here we go!

The first instruction is to get an ice try of some sort. I picked a pineapple shaped mold!

Its really cute:-)

The next step is to fill one row of the ice cube mold with regular tap water. I picked the bottom row to be my tap water row. From the bottom row, I added green food coloring to the first three. (just to see if the color would matter in the experiment).

Next I filled a pan with water and set it to boil. This is how you get rid of impurities that supposedly make regular ice cubes foggy looking.

After the water started to boil, I poured the "pure" water into the top half of the mold. I also put the greeen food coloring into the first three molds.

Now...it's time to freeze and see:-) (Cue Jeopardy theme)

Obviously, there is no difference in the clarity of ice cubes whether you boil them or not.

(the green ones are boss)
