Black Head Buster

I literally prayed to God that this Pinterest DIY would work. Supposedly, this DIY is a homemade black head remover with great results. If so, it would certainly save girls (and some guys) lots of money! To begin with, you need:

  • 1 Tablespoon Unflavored Gelatin
  • 1 1/2- 2 Tablespoons Milk {any kind}

  • I'm a huge fan of few ingredients:-)

The first step in this DIY is to mix the two ingredients together until they look like this:

Then put it in the microwave for five minutes:-)

Spread the mixture on your nose, and let it sit until you feel it solidify. After it feels dry, have fun peeling! This DIY was a resounding...

    White Toes? Without Nail Polish?

Is this real life? How can one possible achieve white toes without putting on white nail polish? According to Pinterest, this trick to turn your toes white should be used after wearing dark nail polishes. With just two simple ingredients, let's begin:

    You will need:

    1 tbsp peroxide
    2 1/4 tbsp baking soda.

Here is a picture of my sister's toes before the DIY experiment:

Okay, first mix your two ingredients together to form a paste. Make sure your toes are clean before you start this. Your paste should look like this:

Leave this paste on your toes for five minutes, and then wash off. Your toes should be pearly white!

haha it totally didn't work at all! I therefore proclaim this DIY a:

    Clear Ice Cubes

I took a great interest in this particular Pinterest DIY. It was a short tutorial regarding how to make your ice cubes clear as opposed to cloudy. Personally, I think that is an awesome trick! It seemed simple enough to start with...so here we go!

The first instruction is to get an ice try of some sort. I picked a pineapple shaped mold!

    Its really cute:-)

The next step is to fill one row of the ice cube mold with regular tap water. I picked the bottom row to be my tap water row. From the bottom row, I added green food coloring to the first three. (just to see if the color would matter in the experiment).

Next I filled a pan with water and set it to boil. This is how you get rid of impurities that supposedly make regular ice cubes foggy looking.

After the water started to boil, I poured the "pure" water into the top half of the mold. I also put the greeen food coloring into the first three molds.

Now...it's time to freeze and see:-) (Cue Jeopardy theme)

Obviously, there is no difference in the clarity of ice cubes whether you boil them or not.

    (the green ones are boss)

    Marker Saver

I became very excited when I saw that 3 people had viewed my blog...and then I realized that I had personally viewed my blog three separate times on three different devices. Sad day:-( Anyway, let's move on to the next DIY project that Tiny and I tried. This project was to "make your dried up markers work like new again." Unlike the self-tanner, I had about 75% faith in this DIY. So, Tiny and I dug around the abyss of our house, and this is what we found...

Here is our dried up marker of choice:

We know, we know, blue is SUCH a stereotypical example color choice. Purely coincidental, we swear. The instructions for this DIY are pretty simple:

Put the tip of your dead marker into a bowl (use a tall glass instead of a bowl. We were stupid and used a bowl.) and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Ah, so that's where the ink went. Great. Anyway, next you take the marker out of the water, and let it sit without its cap on for a couple of minutes.

Then test your DIY on paper!

I have to tell you, Tiny and I were thoroughly impressed. This is such a money saver for all kinds of markers. You're welcome, world, for saving you time and money. We label this Pinterest DIY as a:

    Marshmellow vs. Sore Throat

I am getting sick. I just know it. My throat feels like a slip n' slide of mucus...anyway...I was looking for a quick remedy-other than tea and cough drops-to sooth my raw throat. I came across a curious thing. Marshmellows will sooth a sore throat. I lept and ran all the way to the pantry to find a bag of these marvels. Tiny was sitting at our dining room table at this time. She looked up from her homework just in time to see me take a handful of mini-marshmellows and shove them into my mouth. Brilliantly enough, I now have a reduced sore throat! I'd call this Pinterest DIY a:

    DIY Self-Tanner

Who knew the day would come that we have our first relavant post! Okay, so the first DIY project that we tried was a "self tanner." I came accross this DIY project about two months ago while I was surfing Pinterest. Reading through it, it seemed too good to be true. So, Tiny (that's my sister's nickname) and I decided to try it out. Let's see how it went!

To begin with, we need a couple things to achieve our glorious sun-kissed skin tone:

    4 black tea bags
    2 cups boiling water
    Sponge or spray bottle
    Cocoa powder
    Body lotion

(This is going to be fun!) I chose to try to tan my legs. Here are my legs before the miraculous tan:

    Don't judge! I'm pale!

    The instructions are as follows:

    1. Heat the two cups of water until it begins to boil. As soon as the water begins to boil, add the four tea bags, and let them sit for around 10 minutes.

    2. Pour the tea into the spray bottle or soak the tea up with a sponge. If using the tea soaked sponge, pat the sponge all over the desired tan-to-be area. My sister and I chose to use the spray bottle for even coverage. I stood in the bathtub (to avoid making too much of a mess) while my sister sprayed the tea on my legs. (Girls-or guys-who attempt this tanning method should have clean legs. And girls, please, shave. We are not barbarians). Here are my legs with tea coat number one:

    No difference...

Here is tea coat number two:

    Again, no change.

    Tea coat three?:

No change yet again. Though, in this picture you can clearly see my bruised right knee haha.

    3. Next, mix cocoa into your lotion of choice to create a tinted color.

    4. Rub it into your legs like your life depends on it!:

(I smelled really good wearing that cocoa lotion.) My sister and I virtually saw no difference in the complexion of my legs; however, when I went to drama an hour later, one of my friends remarked that my legs looked tan. Tiny and I still label this DIY as a:

Introductions: In the Proper Manner, of Course

    Bossin' Bloggin'
    Dear readers,
Recently, I, along with my fellow advanced senior English class, was assigned the task to follow a blog and write responses to said blog in an open class forum. I was able to take a lot of liberties with this assignment, so I began following a fashion blog created by a past classmate. This allowed for many laughs and life lessons. That was all fine and dandy, but then I figured, "why not start my own blog?" My blog is based off of my skepticism with the information posted on the popular site, Pinterest. As crafty and inspiring as the Pinterest DIY projects are, there is no way to prove their validity until they are tested. That’s where I come in. I have dedicated this blog to digging up the dirt on Pinterest projects, so you don’t have to. Together we will embark on an unforgettable journey through all Pinterest trials and triumphs!

    The much anticipating,

    Dear readers,
Recently, my sister came to me with a preposition: “with…on…for…after…at…by…in…” Just kidding, she came to me with the proposition to begin our own blog. This blog was to test questionable DIY projects found on Pinterest. I figured, “what the heck.” So, here we are, about to embark on a possibly disastrous journey. We might accidently ruin our hair and skin; however, we will discover the Trials and Triumphs of Pinterest DIY for the sake of our zero followers!
